smallest automotive certified CAN

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320F28030

Hi
I am supposed to develop a "simple" automotive project drive some interior car lights controlled by CAN.

Which TI controller is best suited for this? (Cheapest)
Does TI has a automotive certified controller with an ARM core?
Is there a TI controller with built in CAN interface?
Does TI have a certified CAN protocol stack?
If not which one would you recommend?

Thx

  • Hi,

I will move the thread to Industrial Interface Forum for proper answers about CAN controllers.

  • Hi Mo,

In this forum we deal with the physical layer interface (transceivers) and not the controller portion of of your application. TI does offer controllers with an ARM cores and without ARM cores that have the CAN protocol built in but not the physical layer. You will still need one of my devices to convert the uC controller IO signal into the CAN differential signals (CANH and CANL). Take a look at the TMS320F28030, this may not be what ytou need but you can start there and work towards the controller for your end application. Also, try posting your controller questions in the C2000 forum:

This team will be better suited to answer your question on these types of devices. When you get to the physical layer portion of your design let me know and I will be glad to help!
