DS90UB953-Q1: Compatibility with DS90UB940

It's not mentioned on the preliminary datasheet but will the DS90UB953 be backward compatible with the DS90UB940 or will we need to upgrade our receiver module with a DS90UB954? From the preliminary datasheet the DS90UB953 appears to have a 1-Lane FPD Link III output. If compatible with the 940 will there be a method to use the full throughput capacity i.e. using two DS90UB953 devices or will that require an upgrade to the DS90UB954?

Hi Jonathan,

The 95x devices are part of the ADAS FPD-Link III portfolio whereas the 94x family is part of the INFOTAINMENT FPD-Link III portfolio. Unfortunately you cannot use Infotainment based devices with the ADAS ones. They use different data framing and are thus not compatible.

It seems the RX solution for 953 now is 954 ONLY, right?

Before 954 was released, how can customer test TX function if only 953 available?
