Other Parts Discussed in Thread: , DS125BR111
Which repeater would be best suited to a PCIe 2.0 x1 link, the DS100BR111 or DS100BR111A?
This part might also have to double as a 10G-KR repeater.
Are there any drawbacks to using the DS125BR111?

Hi Mark,
The DS100BR111 and the DS125BR111 are pin compatible. Depending on the application parameters one device or the other will be optimal. They can both work for PCIe Gen2 and 10G-KR.
The DS125BR111 tends to work better when placement is required to be closer to the system Tx.
The DS100BR111 tends to work better when more equalization is required and the placement is close to the system Rx.
Overall the DS125BR111 is a lower gain but more linear design - so it is more forgiving about the settings. This makes it easier to tune and get working.
I would recommend to try to place the DSxxxBR111 close to mid-channel and start with the DS125BR111 device.
Regards,
Lee
