TMDS181: HDMI 2.0 compliance test

Part Number: TMDS181

Hi,

I have a TMDS181RGZEVM and test it for the HDMI 2.0 compliance test.

The source is a 4k video graphic card and I am able to pass the compliance test.

After connected the source to TMDS181RGZEVM via a 2 meters cable some of the tests fails.

I am using I2C_En is high, <no termination>, adaptive EQ. All are default setting.

When I try to set the source termination in the eyescan tool (status control -> misc control -> transmit termination) , it will switch back to <no termination> after click <Write All>.

I try to set at the register 0xB(4:3) to 01 and 0xA(2) to 1 then click <Write all> will reset to 0 again.

1) Do you know why the termination cannot be set?

2) What we can adjust to improve the compliance test result?

  • That is strange, if I2C_EN is high the termination should be controlled by the register.  Have you tried setting the tx_term_ctl to 11?  With the default settings (I2C_EN = low) and pre_sel set to -2dB (low), HDMI compliance should pass.  Which tests are failing?

  • Hi Peck,

I just tested it in the EVM, it works when there is a video transmission.
If the EVM is just powered up and you just try to modify the register it won't have any effect.

Could you confirm there is a valid video transmission?
Are you able to modify de-emphasis setting?

    Regards
  • Hi Moises,

I just tried. It works if I connect both input & output HDMI with a valid transmission.

Yesterday I did not connect any HDMI or just connect one of the HDMI, then it will not work.

    Thank you.

    Hi JMMN,

Let me try to adjust the termination and pre_sel for the compliance test again & let you know.

Precious test the registers are default.

    Thank you.
