TS3USB221A: Serial connection of three USB multiplexers

Part Number: TS3USB221A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TS3USB3000, TUSB211, TS3USB30, TS3USB30E

Hi all guys,

I am working on a redesign of the existing project and for certain reasons I need to be able to send USB signals through TS3USB221A multiplexer. In the worst case, USB signals go through 3 multiplexers. How can I calculate and figure out if this is going to work at all? As can be seen from the datasheet, frequency response of the multiplexers looks like this:

I have figured out that Full-Speed USB requires at least bandwidth of 240 MHz, and that minimum voltage difference between D+ and D- lines in order to be able to detect one bit is about 200 mV. So, concerning frequency response, I roughly calculated that 3 stages of multiplexers introduce about 2.4 dB power loss which is 4.8 db voltage attenuation (x0.56). Since Full Speed USB uses +0.4 -0.4 voltage level (0.8v pp) I calculated that after the last multiplexer the voltage should be 0.4 Vpp.

So, if previous reasoning was correct, how could I now be sure that eye diagram will not be disturbed with input capacitance of the multiplexers? Is there anything else I should take into consideration?

I want to add that this is everything implemented in PCB, so the USB traces are 4-5cm in length, not more.

Thanks and cheers
