TMDS181: Some questions on TMDS181

Part Number: TMDS181

Hi Sirs,

Sorry to bother you.

We use TMDS181 and need confirm somethings as below.

1. We use 6.81k resistor on Pin22 VSADJ, It's Ok? Because the datasheet is use 7.96K but we don't have this value resistor. have any risk?

2. Could we float OE pin? Because from datasheet 9.2 Typical Applications, looks OE is option pin. how could we do on this pin is best??
3. Could we disconnect between I2C and GPU& SCALAR?

4. When will to use I2C?

5. There have pull high 5v on reference schematic, this 5v is for HDMI CONNECTOR or System?
Like if HDMI in have independent 5V_HDMI_IN. the SCL_SNK is 5V_HDMI_IN?

Thanks for your reading and reply.

  • Hi ShuCheng,

    1. In Vsadj you can place the resistor that better meet your needs, datasheets mention 7.06k as a starting point. Follow figure 5 for supported Vsadj resistors and related Vod.

    2. OE pin can be driven by a uC, this is optional. if you are not using a uC, just place a capacitor there for power on reset, the value of the capacitor is selected in order to meet power-up timings.

    3. If you are talking about DDC, we recommend using snoop mode depicted in figure 36(For sink applications).

    4. If you refer to local I2C, it give you more control on the device, you have to review the registers to see if you need some of those features.

    5. This depends on the application, in our EVM by default HDMI_5V and BOARD_5V are connected together, with an option to disconnect HDMI_5V

TMDS181 by default is configured for sink applications if you want to use it for source application, some changes may be needed.
