Can you please refer to the following pircure taken from the TUSB211D/S (page 8) :

Can you please explain what is the short inside the device that is shown there ?

Hi Arik,

the TUSB211 requires that D1P is shorted to D2P and D1M to D2M on the board. We recommend the landing pattern as in p.12 of the datasheet with routing underneath the device to achieve this.

Can you explain why we would need this connection - it seems it is bypassing the whole chip ....
(this is what the customer believes)

Hi Arik,

The connection conducts the signal and when TUSB211 detects USB2.0 HS signal on these lines it will inject current in order to increase the slew rate and by that improve the signal quality of the HS eye diagram.
