LMH0341: compatibility with MC20902

Part Number: LMH0341

Hi Team,

Will output of LMH0341 be compatible with MC20902? MCP20902 is an FPGA bridge to convert LVDS to MIPI D-PHY.

Regards,

Mahendra

  • Hi Mahendra,

I looked at the MC20902 datasheet, and I don't think the LMH0341 output matches up with the MC20902 input exactly. My concerns are below:

The MC20902 is a 4-channel + CLK device, while the LMH0341 is a 5-channel + CLK device. The MC20902 datasheet does not provide much information about the format of the LVDS input it is expecting to receive as well as how that data is clocked in. This could mean that the LMH0341, though it outputs LVDS, is not receivable as a recognizable input to the MC20902.

The LMH0341 also uses DDR signaling so that the output LVDS signals strobe on both rising and falling edge of the signal. The MC20902 does not have much detail about how it samples the HS (High-Speed) incoming signal, so I am not sure if it will read in the LVDS data correctly either.

The MC20902 seems to only operate up to 2.5 Gbps, while the LMH0341 operates up to 2.97 Gbps, so there may be data rate incompatibilities here.

To gain more understanding about compatibility, I recommend requesting a block diagram from the customer to understand more what the application is for this combination of parts.

    Thanks,

    Michael
