TCAN1042V-Q1: Startup time of TCAN1042V-Q1

Part Number: TCAN1042V-Q1

Dear, All

Customers are considering TCAN1042V-Q1.
They have 2 questions.
A. Startup time of TCAN1042V-Q1
If STB is Low and the power is applied, please tell me the startup time from power supply voltage fix.
Is it the same as Tmode of Datasheet P9?

B. Absolute Maximum Ratings of CANH / CANL
Normal Ver is 58V and H Ver is 70V. What do you assume for each?
I would like to know whether H Ver is essential for a 24V battery system.

Thanks, Masami M.

  • Hi Masami,

    A. Tmode is the time to go from Standby to Normal, and from Normal to Standby. Currently the Datasheet is being revised and the correct time is about 9µs not 1µs. If you are asking what is the time from powering on to Standby, that would be determined by the ramp rate of your power supply.

    B. A good rule of thumb is to use 2X your operating voltage. So the 58V device would be sufficient for a 24V system. That being said the 70V variant would give more head room for unexpected events.

  • Hi Masami,

Here are  some startup images to show that the startup time is dependent on the ramp rate of your power supply.

The device starts switching only when Vcc becomes greater than UVVcc which is from 4.2V - 4.4V.

    I hope this helps
