Part Number: DS90UB914A-Q1

On the DS90UB914A's datasheet in the GPIO[X] Config I2C registers the default value is "GPIO operation", which I can change to "normal operation". Is "normal operation" the remote GPIO function? Thank you in advance for your answers!
