TUSB1002: Current consumption of EVM

Part Number: TUSB1002

Hi Team,

when testing the TUSB1002 EVM i got the following behavior:

Starting it without anything connected first 0.5mA and then after 2 seconds 1.5mA forever -> Ok

After plugging in a USB 3.0 Stick it increases to 101mA -> Ok

After unplugging the USB 3.0 Stick it stays at 101mA and doesn't go down again.

Can you please comment on that behavior? Is there a way to decrease the current again?

Best regards

Simon

  • Hello Simon,

I would like to know the state of SLP_S0# (it should bi High or not connected). The re-driver should be able to change from active to disconnect state and start the RX detection.

    Regards,
    Diego.
  • Hi Diego,

The SLP_S0 Pin was open, there was no jumper on the test board. How long should it normally take for the current consumption to go down again after the usb stick is disconnected?

    Best regards,

    Simon

  • Hello Simon,

I've repeated the test using a USB3 external hard drive and the current drops to 1.5mA just after the device is disconnected. The test case is the same, with no jumper on SLP_S0. (I removed R26 in order to take the current measurements and connected the 3.3V power supply on J11, pin 2 for VCC and J10, pin 2 for GND).

    Regards,

    Diego.
