TUSB2036 : TUSB2036 Unknown Device for two ports

When we power up the board and connect the Upstream port to a Windows 7 laptop to troubleshoot the board, the laptop detects the USB hub as a Generic Hub and also Unknown device.

Schematic attached if someone would be nice enough to help out.

Hello,

The TUSB2036 does not have internal pull-up resistors on the OVRCUR/ inputs and these are required. You can tie the OVRCUR terminals together to Vcc.

For the RESET terminal we suggest using RC circuit with a 15KOhm pull-up resistor and a 0.1uF capacitor.

Hello,

Download the usbview utility to get more information about the hub and device. Select the item in the left window will allow its descriptors to be read in the right window. Could you attach some screen captures?

Please, share the updated schematics and let me know if the issue occurs in a different Windows system.

Hello,

C17 should be connected directly to pin 4 to create the correct passive reset circuit.

Hello Dongjun,

Confirm if the clock signal is running at the correct frequency and levels.

Could please send scope captures showing the VCC, RST and XTAL at power up?

There is no problem in the circuit diagram.

but, 6M Hz is not confirmed....

I can not understand why it is an abnormal 6Hz Xtal waveform

How does the crystal become normal?

Hello Dongjun,

Please, provide the crystal's datasheet. For the crystal tuning circuit use a 1.5kOhm resistor.

There is another problem with the problem that the crystal's normal pulse does not come out.

SUSPEND pin is on high voltage.

As you can see in the picture above, the schematic looks fine.

Hello,

If the clock stops no matter what source is used that typically means that the TUSB2036 is going into suspend. The SUSPEND output will be high when this happens. A USB device must go into suspend after 3 ms of bus inactivity, if the application is an embedded system there may be a power up reset timing issue that is causing this. Please, provide a scope capture at power-up showing the Vcc and RST signals.
