TPS65983B: GPIO configuration according to TBT Event

Greetings!

I would like to configure a GPIO to be HIGH (or LOW) according to a ThunderBolt Event.

How do I go about doing this?

The closest option I found in the config tool is "DP or USB3 (Active Low) Event", but this is not quite the same thing.

Assistance would be appreciated!

Hi Aviva,

You could use the "AMSEL Event" GPIO mapping. This will toggle the GPIO when an alternate mode such as Thunderbolt mode is entered.

Eric hi,

Alternate mode could also mean Display, right?
I would like to be able to set the GPIO only if Thunderbolt mode is entered.
Is there a way to do this?

Hi Aviva,

You are correct, this GPIO would also turn on for DisplayPort mode. We currently do not have a GPIO event specifically for Thunderbolt mode.
Does your system have an EC? if so, you could read if thunderbolt mode is entered through the Data Status Register 0x5F.
You can also check with Intel to see if Alpine Ridge has any usable GPIO event for this application.

Eric hi,

I would also get "AMSEL EVENT" for Display portx2+USB mode right? Would I get a "USB EVENT" for this case?

I don't have an EC in my system.

Is there a way to request adding a "TBT EVENT"?

Yes, you would also get a USB Event for that case.
I will discuss adding a TBT Event GPIO mapping with the team.
