TLK10232: Low side test patterns

Hi team,

My customer would like to test low side signal integrity by using internal pattern generator and checker of TLK10232. But their FPGA seems not to allow simple loopback(the loopback pass contains 8b10b encoder and decoder). Then I need to clarify the points below to suggest suitable SI test methods on low side.

1. Is the PRBS signal output from LS pattern generator also 8b10b encoded?
2. Are there any test signal which can pass 8b10b encoder and decoder properly?

Hi Takashi,

The patterns generated by the LS Gen test mode are not 8b/10b encoded so they cannot make it through the device’s data paths.

Let me double-check regarding my second question.

How about CJPAT and CJPAT, are these patterns 8b10b encoded?

According the document below, it says that these patterns are Xaui specific pattern, so we are expecting that these patterns can pass 8b/10b block without any issue.

Hi Takashi-san,

The CJPAT pattern is compliant with the 8b/10b encoding rules, this is the reason why this pattern is recommended for XAUI purposes.
