TUSB8020B: What happens when USB HUB detect the overcurrent?

Part Number: TUSB8020B

hello Sir,

If over-current condition is detected by TI USB HUB then what action is taken by HUB?

Thanks and Regards

Tarang Jindal

  • Hello Tarang,

The TUSB8020B will disable the PWRCTLx/BATENx on the port/ports that reported the overcurrent event.  Also, the hub will set the overcurrent status in its internal USB hub status register.  This status will then be reported to the USB host controller.  Please note that the setting of the GANGED pin will determine if the overcurrent is handled on a port by port basis or if the overcurrent is handled for all ports simultaneously.
