HD3SS6126: Not connecting the USB3.0 Signals

Thank you for taking the time to read this and answer it.

We are again looking at possibly using the HD3SS6126, USB 3.0/USB2.0 combo chip. For 1 iteration of our board we just need the USB2.0 signal mux/demux functionality. If we just hook up the USB 2.0 signals, HSA,B,C+/- what do we need to do with the USB3.0 lines, SSA0,1+/-, SSB0,1+/- and SSC0,1+/-? Can we leave the USB3.0 lines, SSA0,1+/-, SSB0,1+/- and SSC0,1+/- floating?

It is safe to leave the unused pins floating.

Thank you for the very quick reply. I hope you can help me a little more.

Just to clarify do any of the pins, SSA0+, SSA0-, SSA1+, SSA1-, SSB0+, SSB0-, SSB1+, SSB1-, SSC0+, SSC0-, SSC1+, SSC1-, on the HD3SS6126 that may function as inputs can they be left floating or also can any pins that function as outputs be left floating?

Looking more at the datasheet it doesn't really seem like the pins, SSA0+, SSA0-, SSA1+, SSA1-, SSB0+, SSB0-, SSB1+, SSB1-, SSC0+, SSC0-, SSC1+, SSC1-, are direction specific and they don't "drive" per say. Is that true?

Hi Gary,

That´s correct. Actually, the HD3SS6126 is a passive switch, it only connects point A to point B and can be used as bidirectional.
