TUSB7340: TUSB7340 not recommended for new design

Part Number: TUSB7340

Hi,

Can somebody tell me why the TUSB7340 is not recommended for new design anymore ?

We bought that chip several month ago for our new design.

Can you please tell me until when it is available ? How many pieces you have in Stock ?

When will you definitly stop the production ? Do you have a replacement for that chip ?

Thank you in advance

  • Hello Younes,

When TI moves a device to NRND, the device will continue to be in production as long as there are active customers and the ability to produce the device. If TI has to stop production of a device for some reason, TI will work with any active customers to determine lifetime buy quantities.

I will confirm with the team, but this device was likely moved to NRND because it is an older USB 3.0 product and the USB specification has evolved over time. That means that this device would not be able to meet the new USB 3.1 compliance standard to receive a USB logo, even though it was compliant to the USB 3.0 specification. Also, this device requires a high level of support due to driver requirements.

  • Hi Sir,

    One question.

Does it means that if my customer would like to receive USB3.1 Gen1(USB3.0) logo, they still can use this part, right?

    Thank you.

  • Hello Jim,

USB logo can no longer be granted for products using this device.
