SN65C1168E: Part number confirmation

Part Number: SN65C1168E

Hi, we have been instructed to use part number SN65C1168EPWG4 by our customer. It looks like this part number has been changed by TI. Can someone provide details for why this was changed?

Thank you

  • Nicholas,

The "G4" suffix was something used years ago in order to denote certain "green" requirements like RoHS compliance or no Sb/Br. These features have since made it into the regular "non-G4" variants of most devices as well (I don't know of any exceptions), and in these cases the "G4" part numbers may have been discontinued.

    Regards,
    Max
  • Thank you Max. I need to get verification for our customer that this part number uses the same die, masking, and processes as the part with the G4 suffix. Who can I talk to in order to get some form of written communication from TI to provide this engineering justification?
  • Nicholas,

Sorry for the delay - I thought I replied last week but I do not see my message on this thread. Please send me an e-mail at m(hyphen)robertson(at)ti(dot)com with your information and we will work with our quality department to provide an official letter for you.
