TCA6416A: Initial startup and reset

Part Number: TCA6416A

Hello E2E,

We have the TCA6416A implemented in a design where VCCI is 3.3V and VCCP is 5.0V.

We observe that from Power On Reset (POR) the INT output goes high momentarily then goes low almost immediately. All I2C transactions after this point do not appear to work properly. We have to issue a RESET to the chip (i.e. drive the reset input low) to reinitialize the I2C state machine inside the chip then is communicates fine.

Both the 3.3V and 5.0V rails appears to rise monotonically without any glitches at POR or thereafter.

Is an initial reset always necessary like this to get the chip working?

Are there any sequencing or rise time constraints regarding RESET input, VCCI, and VCCP that we should be following?

Thanks for the help!

Russell
