TCA9544A: intial power ramp-up

Part Number: TCA9544A

Hi

After reading chapter 11 in the datasheet, I really in doubt if you actually need to do a power cycle of the device before you can use it. It would make it unusable in many applications.

In beginning of chapter 11 (Power Sequence Recommendations) of the datasheet, there are the below text and attached figure

"When the TCA9544A is powered on for the first time or anytime the device needs to be reset by cycling the power supply, the power-on reset requirements must be followed to ensure the I 2C bus logic is initialized properly."

Later on there is the following note:

"This reset also happens when the device is powered on for the first time in an application."

1) Do you really have to power cycle the device before you can use it?

2) Or is it enough just to ensure that the VCC ramping is slower than VCC_RT (0,1 ms) and then the device does the proper self-reset when power initially

3) Or is there now requirements at all for the initial powering of the device?

Regards

Henrik
