AM26LS31: output damage

Hello,

Our customer use the AM26LS31,using with transceiver IC (SN75176).

The customer connect the AM26LS31 and the SN75176.

When power on, the driver of the SN75176 output high level for a while.

So, the low state output terminal of the AM26LS31 is damaged.

The DS26LS31 has short circuit protection.

Can the DS26LS31 avoid a damage as described above?

I thought the protection effective for only output short (Y and Z)......

Hello Naoki,

I am hoping to better understand the problem. So do they power on the SN75176 and then see a glitch at the driver output of the AM26LS31 or a glitch at the receiver output of the SN75176 or a glitch at the data lines A and B of the SN75176? Also, by "damaged" do you mean that the part is permanently damaged?

Sorry for my poor explanation.

"Damaged" means the AM26LS31 is permanently damaged.
When the customer power on the SN75176 and the SN75176 output High.
The AM26LS31 output Low same time, so like a collision.
As a result, it occur rush current.

Naoki,

I apologize for the delayed response. With the contention between the two devices as you mentioned, the DS26LS31 would indeed be able to handle it and provide short circuit protection at the output.
