TPS254900-Q1: Usage of DM/P_IN

Hi,

The TPS254900-Q1 supports short to battery protection for D+/-.

However the TPS254900-Q1 doesn't support Divider3.

If Divider3 and short to battery protection for D+/- are required, is it possible following connection?

Other words, Can the negotiation function of the TPS254900-Q1 disable?

In above case, I suppose that the TPS2514A negotiate charging mode for a portable device.

Hi,

1. do you need data communication + Power or just need power to charge the smartphones ?

2. if you just need power then, TPS254900 + TPS2514A is a good solution, configure TPS254900 in SDP mode and connect TPS2514A to DP_OUT and DM_OUT, then you will obtain divider3 and short to battery protection.

3. if you need data communication + power. then we recommend TPS2549, but you need some additional short to battery protection IC.

4. you can also use TPS2549 + TPS254900 to obtain divider3 and short to battery protection.

I need just power charge.

I have additional questions.

I think that in SDP mode TPS254900 try to communicate, so it overlap TPS2514A during handshaking.
Is my understanding wrong?

Hi,

no matter in which mode, always devices try to communicate, not TPS254900. In SDP mode, the D+ and D- data lines pass-through to TPS2514A thus devices will not do data communication any more, just draw current.
