Hi Patrick,

I suggest you follow this application note:
www.ti.com/.../snla266.pdf
It will apply to the DP83848J. There are recommended test suites to use for this as well as guidance on how to configure a PHY for such testing.
The app note is for the DP83822, but it can also be applied to the 848.
