TLK2711-SP: Loss of bytes

Part Number: TLK2711-SP

Hello,

We are using a couple of TLK2711A, each one of them functions as transmitter and receiver.
The clock is 100MHz
We are sending 0xBC 0xC5 with the toggling of the TKLSB only and the frame size is 2016 bytes.
Connecting the Tx chip to the Rx chip on the same board, it works without errors
When the Tx and the Rx are on different boards (clocks), we losing byte every 1 sec.

Please advice

Thanks,

Yohay

  • Yohay,
I think this ended up in the wrong forum, as you mention the TLK2711A.
I will move to correct forum.
However, there are many variables that can affect the Bit Error Rate (BER).
Clock Jitter, power supply noise, media losses/jitter, clock async matching, ...

Biggest potential culprit, would we clock jitter on either clock.
Also matching of clock frequency. They need to be within +/-100 ppm of each other.
Have you evaluated the transmit eye diagram? (at transmit, and at reciever). This can provide clues on the source.
    Regards,
    Wade
