SN65DP159: HDMI2.0 input

Part Number: SN65DP159
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDS181, TDP158

dear Sir

I have a HDMI2.0 interface , I would like to use dp159 to do

do I need to add ac coupling cap on the input side ?? or Something I need to take care ??

Due to TMDS181 package is too big (7x7mm) ,so I would like to use dp159 (5x5mm) package to do

HDMI2.0 => DP159 => HDMI2.0

  • Hi Kai,

    The TMDS181 is a native HDMI redriver-retimer, the DP159 is an HDMI AC-coupled to HDMI DC-coupled level shifter.
    So, the DP159 is expecting AC-coupled signals, the HDMI source will need the 50ohms to 3.3V terminations to work properly, then AC caps are needed.
    We have TDP158 too, this device is similar to DP159 without the retimer feature.

    Regards
