TMDS181RGZEVM: TMDS181 Test with Quantumdata 780E

Part Number: TMDS181RGZEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMDS181

dear Sir

When we test TMDS181EVM with Quantumdata 780E

We need to re-click "apply updates" then quantumdata can display out normally (all of register is default ,just only re-click "apply updates")

May I know your suggest??

Please refer to below link

  • Hi Kai,

Does ti work when you apply a reset on the board?
The default registers in the GUI may no be the same of the default registers in the TMDS181, could you send the values fo the raw registers before and after the apply updates?

Does it work in GPIO mode?

    Regards

  • dear Moises

  • Hi Kai,

The default register doesn't look like default state.

Is this issue happening with other displays?

Could you check HPD_SNK is low when there is no display connected?

If instead of doing "Apply Updates" you toggle the register 0x09[3] in the advanced register access, does it work?

    Regards

  • dear Moises

    We will check again

But I would like to know why register file have CSR PAGE 0 and CSR PAGE 1 ,What 's different between that

    Thanks

  • Hi Kai,

The registers in page 0 are the ones you can see in the datasheet, these are needed for normal operation.
The registers in page 1 are used for internal TI debugging, it gives us more details about the state of the device.

    Regards
  • dear Moises

    check the register again

Only CSR page1 have different ,below have attached file

    Register.rar

  • Hi Kai,

The default register still doesn't look like default state.
Is this issue happening with other displays?
Could you check HPD_SNK is low when there is no display connected?
If instead of doing "Apply Updates" you toggle the register 0x09[3] in the advanced register access, does it work?

I see you didn't add register 0x00 from page 1, is it the same for both scenarios? what is the value there?

    Regards
  • Hi Kai,

Can you send me screen caps of any of the screens of the EyeScan tool that you modify?  Also, can I get a pic of the board jumper settings?  Last, which data rate / resolution are you running in the test?  I don't see a similar issue with the QD980 box in my lab so I'd like to duplicate your setup.

    Thanks,

    JMMN

  • Dear Sir

    0x00 Register as below

When the cable insert EVM ,the HPD_SNK voltage is 4.5V

    TMDS181 Test Register.rar

  • Hi Kai,

I'm sorry for the confusion, I looking for the registers dump and voltage in HPD_SNK when the EVM is connected to the video generator but disconnected to quantum data equipment.

    Regards
  • Dear Moises

I will ask our customer to check video generator's register value

But could you check the TMDS181 connect to Quantumdata's result first ?

    1. below is default value without any cable on EVM

    2. Below is connect input and output cable on TMDS181EVM and before click "apply update" => no display output

    3. Below is connect input and output cable on TMDS181EVM and After click "apply update" => display normally

  • Hi Kai,

Can you provide a photo of the EVM so I can duplicate the jumper settings for my test?  It looks like the EQ may be off.

    Thanks,

    JMMN

  • Dear Jmmn

    As below

  • Hi Kai,

Thanks for sharing the photo. I noticed that you have the EVM in I2C mode but you are configuring the pins (SIG_EN and PRE_SEL). The pin configurations are ignored if the EVM is put in I2C mode. Can you confirm if removing the jumper on I2C_EN fixes the need for "apply updates"?

Please note that when the TMDS181 is put in I2C mode, the TX terminations must be manually set. In my testing with a QD980 box and the same switch settings you show above, I do not need to hit "apply updates", but I do see some signal quality issues since the HDMI 2.0 terminations (75-150 ohms) are not enabled. I have tried several different sources and I have not needed to hit "apply updates" for the EVM to work with any of them.

    Regards,
    JMMN
  • Dear Jmmn

Could you help to make a video
When our customer remove the jumper , still have this issue of no display

    Thanks
  • Hi Kai,

Please accept the request I just sent, so I can send the video directly to you.

    Thanks!
    JMMN
  • Hi Kai,

Please let me know if you have received the video.

    Thanks,
    JMMN
  • Hi Kai,
