SN65HVD32: For half duplex

HI,

we are using SN65HVD32DR (RS-485 full duplex - 8 pin ) for modbus commnication. This IC doesn't have RE/DE pin which is generally available with all rs485 IC for direction control. Further we are converting this full duplex comm medium to half duplex as our device is half duplex. We have designed circuit for converting full duplex to half duplex. but it is not working properly.

Can you please suggest if this IC will work as per our requirement.?

Hi Yash,

Can you please tell us more about the circuit you are using to convert full duplex to half duplex? It is important that this is functioning properly and is able to make the RS-485 driver output high-impedance on any unused nodes in order to avoid bus contention (i.e., multiple active drivers sharing the bus simultaneously).

Have you looked into using one of the other devices in this family that feature DE and /RE controls? That may make conversion to half-duplex operation more straightforward.
