Hi Sir

I have a questions about SN65DSI86 working model as followings.

1, Can we use GPIO to enable PMIC's CLK output when not REFCLK input yet?

2. Then, we want to use PMIC provide REFCLK to SN65DSI86. Is it possible? The schematics as below.

Hello Hugo,

Yes, it is possible to drive a GPIO to high while the REFCLK is turned off.

Thanks for your reply. I have other questions as followings.

1. How we set DPPLL_CLK_SRC = 1? Only need REFCLK connect with GND?

Maybe we can use CLK from MIPI instead of REFCLK, then we will save a crystal unit. Is it possible?

2. After power on stable, can we take GPIOs for others using?

3. Our LCM spec are 2 lanes and 1.62Gbps, do we have any methods to reach FHD level as below?

Hello Hugo,

1.Software must program the DPPLL_CLK_SRC field at register offset 0x0A via I2C after the EN is asserted.

2. Correct.

3. It would depend on the pixel clock. However, as per my experience I don't think it is reachable.

Another question, why this IC has two CLK input options (REFCLK or DACP/N CLOCK)? Is it any concern? Thank you a lot.

Hello Hugo,

The output clock can be sourced by either the REFCLK pin or DACP/N pins. When the DSI Clock is selected, any one of the following DSI A clock frequencies can be used: 384MHz, 416MHz, 460.8MHz, 468MHz, or 486MHz. In the other hand, when using the REFCLK as the clock source, any DSI Clock frequency is supported.
