DS32ELX0124: About EQ boost control setting

Part Number: DS32ELX0124
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS32ELX0421

Hi team,

  I have a question about DS32ELX0124 data sheet RevK.
  The EQx Boost Control setting is described as follows
  on the data sheet page 27.

    EQ0 Boost Control
       000:OFF
       x10:Low
       x01:Mid
       x11:High

    EQ1 Boost Control
       000:OFF
       x10:Low
       x01:Mid
       x11:High

  I think the setting values of Low and Mid are opposite.
  Are the setting values on the data sheet correct?

Best regards.

  • Hi Tokumoto-san,

    Thank you for highlighting your concern on the DS32ELX0124 datasheet. Please allow me a few days to contact my design team and review the digital design to confirm the EQ Boost Control Settings. I will provide an update as soon as we are able to review the design.

    Regards,
    Ryan
  • Hi Ryan-san,

     I appreciate your prompt response.
     I understand your situation well.
     I am looking forward to your reply.

    Thank you and best regards.

  • Hi Tokumoto-san,

    I have discussed this with the design team, and have been informed that the datasheet settings are correct. During your testing of the device, are you seeing different performance than is specified in the datasheet?

    Regards,
    Ryan
  • Hi Hashimoto-san,

      Thank you very much for your reply.

      When my customer evaluated the communication between DS32ELX0421
      and DS32ELX0124 on his prototype,the setting Low(x10) was able
      to communicate with a longer cable than the setting Mid(0x01).

      From the above,I assumed that the setting values of Low and Mid are opposite.

      I need to explain the cause of this phenomenon to him.

      I would like to ask your advice on this phenomenon.

    Thank you and best regards.

  • Hi Hashimoto-san,

      I shared a additional information with you.

      Evaluation results

       EQ0 Boost Control    Communication result
             000:OFF --------------> NG
             x10:Low --------------> OK
             x01:Mid ---------------> NG
             x11:High --------------> OK

      If you need any additional information please let me know.

    Thank you and best regards.

  • Hi Tokumoto-san,

    I have re-visited this topic with the design team based on your additional data. We have not been able to locate the design database to confirm if the low and mid settings are incorrect in the DS32ELX0124 datasheet, but the senior designer who worked on this project believes the datasheet may be incorrect. Unfortunately, I will not be able to make an update to the datasheet until I can verify this in the database. My recommendation is to use the setting that provides the best system performance during your testing, based on the results this would be either 0x10 or 0x11.

    Regards,
    Ryan
