TPS65982: Sink (1) / Source (0) GPIO Delay

Part Number: TPS65982

Hi,

My customer is using Sink(1) / Source (0) GPIO with TPS65982. They have an issue that timing delay of VBUS high -> GPIO high is different at dead battery mode and when IC is already ON.

  • Dead battery : VBUS high -> GPIO high  ~580ms
  • IC is already ON : VBUS high -> GPIO HIGH ~3.44ms

They need similar timing delay for EC settings. Is there any way to match the delay to the same time?

Best regards,

  • Hi Sean,

The deadbattery scope shot has a long time delay because it has to go through bootup sequence. When the IC is already on, the boot sequence has already happened.

It is recommended to check the Mode register to see when it changes from BOOT to APP. This will remove the time delay of boot sequence during dead battery mode and more likely match the IC ON time delay.
