DS90UB927QEVM: DS90UB927QEVM: Driver Doesn't Work

Part Number: DS90UB927QEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB948-Q1, DS90UB927Q-Q1, ALP, DS90UB948-Q1EVM, , USB2ANY

We're Trying DS90UB927Q-Q1 Evaluation Board To Connect DS90UB948-Q1 Evaluation Board And Meet Into Some Problems. First We Downloaded The Utility: Analog LaunchPad Framework Utility And Find The Utility Can Not Execute 2 Versions For Which Mentioned DS90UB927Q-Q1 And DS90UB948-Q1 Evaluation Board At Same Time. And The DS90UB927Q-Q1 Use Older Version And The USB Driver Can Not Be Identified. Even Install The Driver Manually From The File Path Connection To HOST PC Remain Failed. So We Can Not Go On Our Test. Please See Your Website And Try Yourselves:

The ALP Version For DS90UB927Q-Q1 Is 1.55.0010

And For DS90UB948-Q1 Is Same With 927Q-Q1

In Fact They're Different

We Downloaded ALP Of DS90UB948-Q1 From Utility Page And Got Filename:SNLC048B

We Either Downloaded ALP Of DS90UB927Q-Q1 From Utility Page And Got Filename:SNLC045C

And We Tried Both Of Versions For DS90UB948-Q1EVM. The Driver Works Well!

We Tried Both Of Versions For DS90UB927QEVM. The Driver Doesn't Work!!!

Can You Provide A Correct Driver For Win 10? We Find Your Evaluation Board Use Cypress's USB Chipset But After Downloading The Driver From Cypress Your Board Still Doesn't Connect With Host PC.

  • Bright,

The UB927 EVM is one old design, as you know, it used Cypress's USB chipset, please get its driver from Cypress's website.

Regarding this case, if you still can not install Cypress's driver well, you can try:

    1. use TI's USBtoANY module to bridge UB927's I2C interface and USB I/f of computer, and run ALP to access UB927

    2. you can visit UB927 as remote from UB948 side.

    best regards,

    Steven

  • Hello Steven

    About Mentioned Cypress USB Driver

We Tried Cypress's USB Driver By A Direct Download From Cypress's Website But ALP Showed No Connection Between EVM And Host. It Means The Driver Doesn't Work / Cannot Be Identified. And We Tried The Driver From The ALP's File Path. And The Driver Doesn't Work Either.

    About USBTOANY Module

I'm Sure What Is It? You Mean The Other EVMs Like USBTOGPIO / USBTOUART? I've Tried To Search The USBTOANY Module But Get No Hit Results From Google Search But USBTOGPIO Board Here. I Don't Think We Have USBTOANY Module In Hand By Which Can Experiment What You Instruct.

Visit DS90UB827Q-Q1 EVM As Remote From DS90UB948-Q1 Side

How To?  Shall We Need To Set Register / Does Remote Access Requires Other Settings? As You Knows DS90UB927Q-Q1 Serializer Support Data Rate Up To 720P 60 FPS And DS90UB948-Q1 Support Up To 1080P. So Here Is A Timing Issue Between The 2 EVM. Do We Need To Set Some Values For Each EVM Side?

    Thanks

    Bright

Update Latest Status Of Our Hard Trying To 2 Evaluation Boards. As Attached Screenshot The Drivers Now Work Well But We Still Cannot Connect The 2 Boards. As You See From The Picture Below We Set Up 2 Devices For ALP NANO USB (948/927) But When We Selected One Of Devices The Information Always Shows Wrong Device. In Following Case We Selected DS90UH948 But Get Information About 925/926. It's Really Strange. No Matter What We Set It Remain Showing Unmatched LINK.  Shall We Set Up Some Values In Register / Jump To Match DS90UB948-Q1 And DS90UB927Q-Q1 Evaluation Board?

  • Bright,

from the GUI message, you don't link the EVM via ALP.

You only can set ONE device in the menu of ALP nano USB, please secure that you have UB927 or UB948 profile in the ALP tool. For detailed message, please visit page21~page23 in snlu165.pdf.

    best regards,

Do You Mean When Using EVM Via ALP We Can Only Use Either Of NANA USB And USBTOANY? Because In The User Manual We See The ALP Can Set Up For Not One One Device By When Mentioned Page 21 ~ Page 23. And The NANO USB Seems To Be Set Up Automatically When We Connect USB To PC Host Then Launch The ALP Application. Can We Change It Manually? If We Have No Correct Device Profile Where Can We Download From? For Establishing A Connection Between 2 Devices Should We Prepare 2 PCs With 2 ALPs For 2 EVM (DS90UB948-Q1 / DS90UB927Q-Q1)? Or We Just Need Setup One Device?

By The Way We Tried Cypress's EZ-USB Driver And The Driver Remained Unidentified. And We Open The CYUSB3.INF With Notepad++ To Add New VID&PID. We're Not Sure Whether The Driver Works Or Not But When We Launch The ALP The Application Automatically Get Right NANO USB For DS90UB927Q-Q1 EVM. Unfortunately The Connection Betweeb DS90UB948-Q1 And DS90UB927Q-Q1 EVM Is Still Failed. And Here Is Somewhat Different From DS90UB948-Q1 EVM And DS90UB927Q-Q1 EVM. The DS90UB927EVM Work Very Smooth With ALP But DS90UB948-Q1 Work Very Lame. We Suppose A Problem With DS90UB948-Q1 Board. But As Following Screenshot When We Connect The Board To PC Host The ALP Immediately Specify A Right Device In USB2ANY. I Set Up For Nothing. And When We Select Each Option In Tools The Software Always Pending And Shows No Reaction. That Why We Doubt The Board Abnormal.

    And From The Following Screenshots:

DS90UB927Q-Q1 EVM's LED Always Stay Red And DS90UB948-Q1 Always Be Green If The Connection Between USB Host And Device Is Established.

    Best Regards

  • Bright,
Yes, you can use either nano USB or USBtoAny to link FPD-Link EVM board. As the FPD-Link has bidirection control, you can link one local device, and then control the remote deserializer or serializer. So just one device is needed.
In your GUI figure, it seems the driver is NOT installed correctly, the USBTOI2C is NOT linked with FPD-Link device successfully, please try to make sure the driver issue.
meanwhile, please select the device profile firstly under tools menu, then you can remove/add the correct device which is connected to USB.

    best regards,
    Steven
