LMH1983: Using TCXO with 800mVp-p output

Hi Team,

Please allow me to clarify whether if you could use below TCXO.

Our customer is planning to use TCXO which has 800mVp-p single ended output. I believe you could use it by applying 0.4V to XOIN- pin regarding below specification.

My understanding is that if you have differential voltage of +/-247mV, device could recognize low and high signal. Is my recognition correct ?

  • The levels are OK, but TCXO with clipped-sinewave output is not recommended because of the slow slew rate will degrade jitter performance.  The Vxoin_diff spec is assuming a faster slew rate (differential LVDS), and not a slow single-ended signal.  If they use single-ended input mode, they should use a LVCMOS driver which will have faster slew rate than sinewave or clipped sinewave.

  • Hi Alan-san,

Thanks for your advice. We internally discussed and came up to the same opinion. We are asking customer to choose LVDS or LVCMOS output TCXO.

Could you please confirm my another question which posted in the following URL for TCXO recommendation ?
