Does the DS90UB949-Q1 have a Bit Error Rate counter (or way of figuring out errors) on the forward channel of the device?

I see a register that will unlock and relock the device if the errors get up to high, but do we have a way of determining (and able to read them out) the exact number of errors, and what type of errors they are (i.e. Video errors vs. other types)?

Hello,

In BIST mode errors in the forward channel can be counted at the deserializer side and accessible through bidirectional readback of I2C registers on the deserializer.
In mission mode single errors on the PASS pin of the deserializer, the error counter is functional for BIST mode only.
At the serializer side only lock and link detect status bits are available.

When video is transmitting there is an option to enable RGB checksum and readback status of the RGB checksum from the deserializer. Although this would not increment, RGB checksum would flag any video errors since the last register clear on read.
