DP83822I: EEE negotiation

Part Number: DP83822I

Hi

I have some question about EEE negotiation.

1) section 8.3.1.2 EEE negotiation

The device can be negotiated automatically it oneself if the RD pin is set bye external resistor.(It no need to set by external MCU)

    Is my understanding correct ?

2) Regarding INT/PWDN_N pin, it is mentioned on the datasheet as below,

"To enable IEEE Power Down via INT/PWDN_N pin, the pin will need to be driven LOW to ground."

it mean that we should set the INT/PWDN_N pin to low(=ground) if we want to power-down. Does "LOW" mean ground?

Koji Hamamoto

  • Hello Koji,

    1. Yes, the EEE feature will be activated automatically if RX_D1 is strapped to mode 2 or 3 using external resistors. In this case, MCU programming won't be required.

    2. Yes, the default function of INT/PWDN_N pin is power down. In this mode if the pin is driven low (=ground) then the PHY will enter power down mode.
