DS100BR210: questions about DS100BR210SQE_NOPB retimer

Part Number: DS100BR210
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS100BR410

Hello,

We are considering applying TI's DS100BR210SQE_NOPB device to our network application.

We used TI's retimer for the previous projects.

In the following case, please check if it is possible to replace it with repeater instead of retimer.

 - Applies to both TX / RX signals of SFP + optical modules

Also, if you have an appropriate 4-channel device, I would appreciate your suggestion.

Regards,

TS

  • The DS100BR210 repeater may be used for SFP+ optical module electrical interfaces. Due note however that the TI repeater has reduced EQ capability compared to retimer as well as higher output jitter. The repeater however consumes much less power. The system channel characterisitcs should be examined to determine the approximate pre channel and post channel for the signal conditioner device (retimer or repeater) and then make a determination on what device is a better fit based on all of these parametric tradeoffs.

TI does have a 4-channel verion, part number DS100BR410.
