TCA9548A: What is 'Vpath'

Part Number: TCA9548A

Hello I2C team!

Watanabe-san sent the following question to me regarding the TCA9548, and I didn't want to just point him to E2E since it would likely delay his answer by a full day. I made a few edits (in brackets) for clarity.

I have [a] question about the Vpath in page21 of TCA9548 datasheet.

What is the meaning of this “Vpath”.

In this case, master power supply is 5V and slave power suppl[ies] are 2.7V and 3.3V. It seems Vpath(max) is 2.7V and possible VCC is 4V.

I guess this path transistor’s gate source voltage threshold Vth(on) has 1.3V in this case.

If VCC=4V, this transistor can be off and it can act translator but if VCC>4V, this transistor is always on so it can’t act [like a] translator.

I am not sure my guess is correct or not. Would you help me [understand] how TCA9548 is working and Vpath meaning?
