BQ24392: How to differentiate CDP and DCP from BQ24392

Hi,

Based on Table 1. Detection Table in datasheet, I can't see how BQ24392 can make use of any status pins to differentiate the detection result between CDP and DCP. CHG_AL_N is low and CHG_DET is high for both CDP and DCP. What can we do to differentate these two conditions?

Hello,
You're right, the CHG_DET output does not differentiate between DCP and CDP, the only way to know whether it is a DCP is when DP/DM are shorted.

Thanks for your reply. How about to make use of SW_OPEN pin as well? Is there any combination of the status pin from the chip can help to differeentiate between CDP and DCP?

Hello,
Partially, you're right that if SW_OPEN is low then it can't be a DCP, but when SW_OPEN=Hi-z then you won't know whether it is DCP or CDP.
If your implementation is going to be a closed implementation where you can control those type of scenarios, then that should work.
