SN65HVS885: How swap function

Part Number: SN65HVS885
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74CB3Q3345

To whom it may concern

Our customer's system is required hot swap function.
Against digital input unit, they are considering SN65HVS885 but they have concerned about protection if input voltage was minus at hot swap timing.

Are there any proposal about the above ?

Your reply would be appreciated.

Thanks and best regards.

  • Hello,

Unfortunately, we do not have a De/Serializer with built in hot swap timing.

However you can take a series of 1:1 switches and place them at the input pins as a form of isolation such as the SN74CB3Q3345 (8 Ch. 1:1 switch if power off isolation).

You could have the switches off during plug in, and then after the timing for hot swap, enable the switches as shorts to allow the signals to go through.

Please see the app note below for more details:

    Thank you,

    Louie

  • Hi Louie

I'm sorry for providing enough information.

In their system, input voltage is required 24V so SN74CB3Q3345 which was suggested could not be used.

We have looked for any suitable device, but we could not.
Are there any proposal in stead of SN74CB3Q3345 ?

    Your reply would be appreciated.
    Thanks and best regards.
  • Hello,

Unfortunately, we do not have any 8 Ch. 1:1 switch rated for 24V with powered off protection at this time.

    Thank you,
    Louie
