Single POE (15W) Solution

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS23861

HI

I need to design a PSE controller which can power any PD over Ethernet.  PSE can source up to 15W.

1. Temp :- Industrial

2. Port Needed:- Only One Port

3. Power each Port :- 15 W only

4. Suggest some IC, which can be used in PSE and only one Port is required.

5. Any reference Circuit and evaluation board information, please.

  • Hi Kunal,

For your application, I would suggest you use the TPS23861 PSE. This PSE can source up to 30W. However, if you want the PSE to be limited to only 15W, you can disable two-event classification in the software. Doing this will mean Class 4 PDs will only receive 15W. In order to only use one port, please refer to section 8.2.2 of the TPS23861 datasheet to see how to connect unused ports.

I have attached a link for the TPS23861 EVM below. Schematics for this EVM can be found in the TPS23861 EVM User's Guide.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions.

  • Hi Jake

Thanks We have dropped the idea of POE. Instead of 1 POE we requirement need 1 POE + . Pleas suggest some IC , and reference design and any evaluation board for this. Please suggest if same IC can be used.

  • Hey Kunal,

If your requirement is POE+ (30W) you can still use the TPS23861. In this case, you would not need an MCU or any software as you can use the device in Auto Mode.

    Thanks,
