TPS65982: UART Problem in Dual-Port Configuration

Part Number: TPS65982

Hi team,

We have an issue that should be urgently solved in dual-port notebook configuration.

Primary and secondary are connected through UART. In some cases secondary stays at BOOT even though I see UART communication. Please see below.

  1. Primary power on -> secondary power on : works well
  2. Secondary power on -> primary power on : works well
  3. Primary power on -> a device is connected to primary port -> primary PD is contracted -> secondary power on : secondary stays at BOOT
  4. A device is connected to primary (No PD contract) -> primary power on -> primary PD is contracted -> secondary power on : secondary stays at BOOT
  5. A device is connected to primary (No PD contract) -> primary power on -> primary PD is contracted -> the device is removed -> secondary power on : secondary stays at BOOT
  6. A source is connected to primary -> primary power on with dead battery -> secondary power on : secondary stays at BOOT

Regarding all these situations, it seems if the primary’s PD has been contracted, secondary stays at BOOT and doesn’t receive firmware through UART normally. When I checked the boot flag of secondary, it seems the UART communication has errors. Please see below.

Could you please check this problem urgently? My customer has to build next board very soon and they need to change the circuit if it is needed.

Best regards,

Sean Moon
