Hi,

We designing a power bank which supports USB power delivery(Type C and A) ..

Output voltage requirement : 5 to 20 volt….based negoitation..The USB port should support based on the requirement voltage around 5 upto 20 volt ..

For analysis,We have selected USB PD Source Controller as a (TPS252740B),boost converter (LM5175) and 3-cell lithium battery charger (Not yet selected).

We need your support to pick the right part for our design..

Needed requirements:

  • Hi Saranya,

You are on the right track with the TPS25740B since this device is mostly used in chargers and power banks. The USB DFP controller(TPS25740B) has two voltage settings 5V,9V,15V,20V and 5V,9V,12V,15V that are fixed based on a voltage divider connecting to the CTLx pins. Since the TPS25740B is a state machine device, it will not have much complexity in design. If PDO flexibility is of interest, it's recommended to look at the TPS65986 since the PDOs are programmable with the Application Customization Tool.
