HD3SS3220: I2C IN DEAD BATTERY MODE

Part Number: HD3SS3220

Hi All,

I need your help.

When I use « Unattached  » mode or «  Active » mode of HD3SS3220 (5V is ON, 3V3 is ON), I2C is OK.

When I use « dead battery » mode of HD3SS3220 (5V is OFF, 3V3 is ON), I2C is disabled, it’s ok but HD3SS3220 force I2C bus to 1,1V.

In this case, it’s impossible to communicate with others periphericals as RTC on same bus I2C.

See attached schematic.

Is it normal ? Do you have same issue in yours designs ?

What do you think ?

Thanks very much.

  • Hi Sebastien,

Sorry for the delayed response. Please make sure of these points:

    100nF & 1uF capacitor array on pin 8 (VCC33)
    100nF AC cap on TX1P/N.
    100nF AC cap on TX2P/N.
ID: Is an open drain output, a pull-up resistor (that is, 200 kOhms) must be installed for proper operation of the device. Asserted low when CC pin detected device attachment when port is a source (DFP), or dual-role (DRP) acting as source (DFP).

    I hope this helps.
