TMDS181: PIN FUNCTION

Part Number: TMDS181

Hi

Is it ok to connect SCL/SDA_SRC to 5V and SCL/SDA_SNK to 3.3V? Thanks!

Regards

David

  • Hi David,

Both the SCL/SDA_SRC and the SCL/SDA_SNK are 5V compatible. 3.3V operation should work as well, but the resistor values may need to be adjusted. Please see the notes in the datasheet about enabling DDC snoop mode on this device (and the DP159) to workaround I2C clock stretching interoperability issues.

    JMMN
  • Hi JMMN

    Thanks for your response!

I need to double confirm. What I mean is that SRC and SNK connect to different voltage, SRC connect to 5V and SNK connect to 3.3V. Then is it also ok? Thanks!

    Regards

    David

  • Hi David,

SCL_SRC/SDA_SRC and SCL_SNK/SDA_SNK can be connected to different voltages because there is an active block within TMDS181 that isolates them; HDMI2.0 requires 5V on the connector.
However, as JMMN has mentioned you have to review the datasheet about snoop-mode to work around the I2C clock stretching interoperability issues.
