AWR1642 LVDS Deserializer

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AWR1642, AWR1243

Hi,

I want to use AWR1642 mmwave chip to send processed radar data cube through LVDS to TDA2x. For this purpose, I want to know the Deserializer that will exactly match the serializer that is inside the AWR1642 chip on the LVDS lane.

Kindly let me know, if such a de-serializer is available.

If I cant use a deserializer, I would like to know a possible easy solution to take data from LVDS lane of AWR1642 to VIN port of TDA2x.

Thanks in Advance,

Santhana Raj

  • Hi Santhana,

The TDA2x ADAS processor does not have a generic LVDS interface that is compatible with the AWR1642.

Some of the TDA2x/3x family have CSI2.0 ports. These CSI2.0 ports are compatible with the AWR1243/1443 CSI2.0 interface.

The AWR1642 sensor is intended to operate in more of a "stand-alone" mode with processed radar return data - target state vectors for example - being shared with a host processor over a low-speed serial link. In contrast, the AWR1243 sensor is intended to be paired with a CSI2.0/LVDS compatible host processor with the processor then being tasked with processing the raw ADC IF data.

I recommend that you look into the AWR1243 since this seems to meet your anticipated data path requirements more closely.

Also, please note that the LVDS pins in the 1642 family are also labeled "debug only" in the preliminary device datasheet. TI is still working to fully qualify these pins. At this time it is not recommended that customers rely on these pins for data transfer in their final designs.

Please contact the TI ADAS sales team for any help concerning the ADAS TDA2x processors.

    Thank you,
    Randy
