TCA8418: keypad ESD protection in an industrial environment

Part Number: TCA8418

I am in the process of designing a SMT switch matrix under a plastic membrane for use in an industrial environment. I am evaluating the TCA8418. This part has some internal protection against ESD. I am trying to determine if this would be sufficient or would I need to add external protection.
