SYBA SD-PEX30016

The SYBA SD-PEX30016 uses a TI XI02213 chip, which either ends in AZAY or BZAY, to control the FireWire ports on the expansion card. Link below.

I am having difficulties with external hard drive enclosures detecting on the 1394A port on this card. I have used the Texas Instruments driver that Microsoft automatically selects, a Microsoft generic driver, and a Microsoft legacy support driver with no success. After contacting SYBA they have determined that the resolve could be with either an updated driver package from Texas Instruments or a firmware update.

I am hoping that a driver or firmware exists or if a possible workaround is available.

Thanks,

Ruben Romero

  • The XIO2213 chip conforms to the OHCI specification. Microsoft has two OHCI drivers, normal and "legacy", with different sets of bugs. (But HDs should work with either one.)

There is no TI driver; the Driver Manager shows "Texas Instruments" because that is the vendor of the chip.

This card does not have any firmware.

If the 1394A port does not work with multiple devices (and if the other ports do work), then this looks like a hardware defect, either in the port itself or with the cable you're using.
  • Thanks for the update in regards to a new driver or firmware.

I have tried two different HD enclosures, three different cables, and multiple cards from different order batches. I think I may end up just ordering another enclosure and see if it shows the same symptoms.

I appreciate the help and prompt reply.
  • Do any of the 1394B ports work?
  • Yes, both 1394B ports function on the card. They do not however function with both of the Microsoft drivers mentioned in the earlier reply. With the Microsoft drivers I followed the suggested instructions from Microsoft and tried restarting the system with the enclosures plugged in.
  • Those two Microsoft driver are the only possible drivers; as I said above, there is no TI driver.
What exactly did you do to get the B ports to work?
  • There may not be a supported or created TI driver from Texas Instruments, though when the SYBA card is plugged in and you find the device in device manager the default driver selected is labeled as Texas Instruments. A second driver is available which is an OHCI Microsoft driver and the legacy OHCI driver has to be manually installed.

The 1394B ports function as intended and do not require any workaround. The SYBA card is a PnP device, so turn on the external enclosure, plug in the 1394B cable from the enclosure to the card, and Windows 10 detects the drive in the enclosure to be accessed. But this only works when using the labeled TI driver both of the MS drivers do not detect either 1394A and 1394B.
  • Thanks for all the comments, just to confirm what Clemens said, there is no custom driver from TI for this device.
