TPS65982: Sleep mode configuration

Hi,

We are using TPS65982 PD chip and we need to sitch it in to SLEEP mode. From technical reference manual we found that there are two registers for power management control: 0x20 and 0x70. But, it's not clear what S0, S3, S4 and S5 means for register 0x20.

Could you explain differences of this states? Is it possible to configure states in run time via I2C bus?

Hi Eric,

It's clear.

So, my configuration as follow:

After I download this configuration to PD chip power consumption doesn't changed. Nothing connected to USB-C and no communication via I2C bus after register 0x70 updated.

When new values will be applied?

There is something that not allow PD chip move to Idle mode?

Hi Alexander,

Do you have something connected on the Type-C port? If so, the device will not go into sleep mode until you disconnect it and the VBUS voltage returns to 0V.
Are you using any of the GPIOs while in sleep mode? Current consumed by the GPIOs will affect the overall power consumption of the TPS65982.

Hi Eric,

1. No, nothing connected to Type-C. I can measure VBUS and it's 0V.

2. Yes, we are using GPIO for LED's control but they are turned off.

We have 3 PD chip and two another IC's on the same I2C bus. Is it possible that during communication with this IC's TPS65982 exit from sleep mode?

Hi Alexander,

Yes, any I2C Communication on the I2C bus will wake up the TPS65982 from sleep state.
