DP83848I: 10M Mode of DP83848I

Part Number: DP83848I

Hi Team,

My customer is using our DP83848I and may use 10M mode in one project, they got one question about the waveform in our DP83848I's datasheet(Page 75, Fig 7-10), they want to help them understand why it's like a sine-wave form and want to understand it well, can you help let me understand this waveform? Then I can let customer know asap, thanks for the support!

Best regards,

Sulyn Zhang

  • Hello Sulyn,

The waveform for 10M is defined in IEEE 802.3 standard. 10Base-T standard uses Manchester encoding which is different than 100Base-Tx standard that uses MLT3. This is not something specific to DP83848I but it is applicable to all 10/100 PHYs.
