Hi Sir,

I had read below article.

If I use TUSB544 in 3m cable and want to update F/W in the future, how to design without add USB hub?

Could you help check could through config1，Config2，Return，PWR of DP connector to connect to MCU to update F/W?

Hello Driscoll,

No firmware is needed for the TUSB544.

Not sure I fully understand the USB Hub part, as a USB Hub isn't required for the device's implementation.
Please elaborate further and we will be glad to answer.

Sorry, I am not clearly my problem. Due to type-C redriver cable need use with TUSB422, and TUSB422 need control by MCU, so want through DP connector to update F/W if need in the future.

Hello Driscoll,

The TUSB422 is a Type-C port Controller (TCPC) and per definition, it handles the physical layer of the PD protocol only. What you need is an additional MCU to act as a Port Manager. The firmware is for the MCU and not the TUSB422, so the upgrade process actually depends on the MCU that you choose.
