USB-C SBU Pins short to GND

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65986EVM

Hello Everybody,

General question regarding the SBU-pins.

We don't need the SBU pins for alternate modes.

And we need to connect SBU pins to GND due to some reason.

Any side effect if we connect SBU pin to GND?

Best Regards,

Kane

  • Hi Kane,

If you are not planning on using the SBU pin, it is recommened to tie it to GND. This can be referenced in the TPS65986 Type-C Port Pins section of the datasheet.

  • Hi Kane,

Make sure to add a weak pull-down resistor to Ground (1Mohm is a good value per the Type-C specs). Feel free to use the TPS65986EVM board for reference (screen shot below).
